1、(象形。金文字形,象垂穗的禾本科农作物。汉字部首之一。从“禾”的字多与农作物有关。本义:谷类作物的总称)。
2、古代指粟,即今之小米。
禾,嘉谷也,二月始生,八月而孰,得时之中,故谓之禾。---《说文》
