Xu is now better known as Jason, his English name.

Although rich, Xu avoided comfortable travel, preferring to go almost everywhere on foot.

When he was 18, however, Xu's father died and so, it seemed impossible for his travelling dreams.

徐出生在一个富裕的江阴家庭，很小的时候就对不同地方的书籍产生了兴趣，并想旅行。

Born into a wealthy Jiangyin family, Xu became interested in books about different places at an early age and wanted to travel.

不幸的是，徐在他最后也是最长的一次旅行中病倒了，这是他在中国西南地区进行的为期4年的旅行。

Unluckily, Xu became seriously ill during his last and longest journey, a 4-year trip through the Southwest of China.
